The whole thrust of this blog has become the teaching of languages but with a cultural slant. Using music to teach elements of language is clearly steeped in culture and if the song is good enough the students might go away, download it and do some extra listening practice which will ensure the point made in the lesson seeps into their memory.
Shakira is a classic for me and years ago a teacher (Lorna – thanks!) introduced me to her first album. I’ve used the song “Estoy Aquí” ever since with A level groups to contextualise the teaching of the gerund.
The resources I’ve made are below but if you want the song you will have to go to iTunes, Amazon, etc to buy it.

LA OREJA DE VAN GOGH
This song is quite difficult but presents a wealth of useful language. The resources are below, however I started it with the card activity in which they simply had to arrange the cards in the order in which they heard the words. We then spent some time anticipating what the blanks should be on the worksheet + they listened to the song again to check their answers.
